Overview
The standard 2-day Zagora tour is a great quick fix, but it is a fix — one night, one camel trek, and a fair bit of driving squeezed into 48 hours. This 3-day version takes the same beautiful route and simply lets it breathe: proper time in the Draa Valley, a push on to the bigger, quieter dunes near M'Hamid for the desert-camp night, and a far less rushed drive home.
Day one covers the same ground as the shorter tour — the Tizi n'Tichka, Aït Ben Haddou, and the palm-lined Draa Valley — but with time to actually stop in villages and kasbahs along the way rather than watching them pass from the window. The first night is spent near Zagora.
Day two continues south to M'Hamid, the last town before the true desert, where the dunes are noticeably bigger and the crowds noticeably thinner than at the more accessible Zagora/Tinfou dunes. A sunset camel trek here leads to a desert camp for the night — dinner, drumming and stars, with a genuine sense of having reached the desert's edge rather than just its outskirts.
Day three is an unhurried return, with time for a last look at the valley or a stop not managed on the way down. It suits travellers who like the idea of Zagora's closeness to Marrakech but want a proper two-night desert experience rather than the intense one-night dash, without going all the way to a full Erg Chigaga expedition.
