Before you start

Four days is the length at which Marrakech stops feeling like a sprint. You still front-load the city, but the extra day buys you a big-ticket day trip — the Atlantic at Essaouira or the falls at Ouzoud — and a final day for the hands-on experiences.

The Day 3 choice comes down to mood. Essaouira is sea air, ramparts, seafood and a laid-back medina — a 2.5-hour drive each way. Ouzoud is Morocco's most dramatic waterfall, wild macaques and a boat under the spray — about 2.5–3 hours out, more nature, more effort.

Day 4 is deliberately soft: pick a cooking class, an artisan workshop or a spa morning, then close with either a rooftop dinner or an Agafay desert sunset. It's the day people remember most.

Practical tips

Day-3 trips are long — sit near the front if you're prone to car sickness on the switchbacks.
Essaouira is notably cooler and windier than Marrakech; pack a light jacket.
At Ouzoud, wear proper shoes for the descent and keep food out of monkey reach.
Book the cooking class a couple of days ahead — the good ones cap numbers.
If Day 3 wipes you out, keep Day 4 in town and skip the desert run.
