No, you can't realistically visit the true Sahara dunes (Merzouga or Zagora) in one day from Marrakech — they're 7 to 9 hours' drive each way, so it takes two to three days. For a same-day desert experience, head to the Agafay stone desert, 40 minutes away, for a sunset, camel ride or dinner in the dunes.
