Our guide knew every alley, every rooftop, every hidden courtyard. We saw a Marrakech that no guidebook could show us.

The balloon ride at dawn was the highlight of our honeymoon. Watching the Atlas Mountains turn gold from above — absolutely unforgettable.

I travelled solo and felt completely looked after. My guide was more like a friend by the end of the day — showing me his favourite tea spot in the Mellah.

Ingrid Stockholm · Full-day medina walk

The quad biking in Agafay was an absolute rush, and the dinner in the desert camp afterwards was magical. My kids still talk about it months later.

Ask us anything
What are the best things to do in Marrakech?

Start with a guided medina walk through Jemaa el-Fnaa, Bahia Palace and Jardin Majorelle. Take at least one day trip — the Atlas Mountains and Ourika Valley, the Agafay desert at sunset, or the Sahara dunes at Merzouga. For adrenaline, a hot-air balloon at dawn or a quad ride. For calm, a traditional hammam. Most visitors wish they'd booked more than they did.

What day trips can I take from Marrakech?

The High Atlas Mountains and Ourika Valley (45 min drive), Ouzoud Waterfalls (2.5 hrs), coastal Essaouira (2.5 hrs), the Agafay stone desert (40 min), and the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou near Ouarzazate (3.5 hrs). Most run 8–12 hours door to door with hotel pickup. All available private or small group.

How do I get to the Sahara desert from Marrakech?

Zagora is a 2-day round trip. Merzouga's Erg Chebbi dunes are a classic 3-day loop via Ait Ben Haddou and the Dades or Todra gorges. If you only have an evening, the Agafay stone desert is about 40–60 minutes from the city — rocky desert scenery, camel rides and camp dinners without the long drive to the Sahara.

How much do tours and day trips cost?

Group day trips start around 250–450 MAD (€23–42) per person. Private day trips run 1,200–2,500 MAD (€110–230) per vehicle. Multi-day desert tours are 3,000–8,000 MAD (€275–740) per person depending on camp level. Activities like hot-air balloons are 1,500–2,000 MAD (€140–185). We quote a clear total upfront with no booking fee.

Do I need to book tours in advance?

For hot-air balloons, sunrise trips and multi-day desert tours: book a few days ahead in spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November). City tours and most day trips can be arranged with 24–48 hours' notice, even in high season.

Is Marrakech safe for tourists?

Yes. Marrakech is Morocco's most visited city and the main sights, tours and day trips are safe with normal precautions. A licensed local guide makes the medina easy to navigate, helps you avoid tourist traps, and unlocks places you'd never find alone. Solo travellers, couples and families all visit regularly.
